Answer by Lori G They didn’t increase the pressure to keep your throat open, just increased the amount of oxygen you’re getting (from 3liters to 5 liters) This will help get your oxygen levels up (it went down to 63%? …that’s pretty low, good thing they’re checking. Your oxygen levels should be 90% or more in general) The switch from CPAP to BiPAP might also help.
Hope this helps-

Question by ♥Sydney Erin♥: Sleep Apnea? My dad has it but won’t go to the doctor.?
My dad is very stubborn. I am so sure he has sleep apnea because I looked up the symptoms and he pretty much matches all of them. Loud snoring, long pauses in his breathing (20-30 seconds), extreme sleepiness throughout the day, irritability, fatigue, mood changes, and headaches. Sleep apnea can cause serious problems in one’s life and I am so scared for my father. When ever we go out to a hotel on vacation and have to sleep in the same room, I can hear the pauses in his breathing and it freaks me out because I am afraid he is going to die or something. I asked him why he doesn’t go to the doctor so he can get treatment, but he insisted that everything was okay. My dad hates admitting he is wrong. How can I convince him that he needs to see a doc asap so he won’t have to continue having these problems? Its really taking a toll on me also (the irritability and mood changes). Thanks for taking the time to read this. :]

Answer by Notorious DPT If he’s overweight he may need a general physical. I reccomend a physical at least every 2-3 years to check cholesterol and other stuff. He should just get an overall checkup.

Question by Amanda H: What does sleep apnea have to do with someone who just wont wake up in the morning.?
I have a VERY VERY hard time waking my husband up in the morning,. He doesn’t hear the alarm, kids, dog, phone…ANYTHING. People keep telling him to go get tested for sleep apnea, now under certain circumstances I would understand why you may go get tested for that, but my husband has been like this ALL his life, ever sense he was little. I have heard some pretty funny stories about when he was little and wouldn’t wake up. So I don’t understand why he would have sleep apnea now when he has been like this all his life.
Best answer:
Answer by kelsey He may have had apnea all of his life. My 6 yr old son just got his tonsils out and one of the reasons was because he has apnea. Does your husband snore, gasp for air or stop breathing? Being very hard to wake up is one of the symptoms since people with apnea are constantly waking up all night, but don’t remember it. He may be hard to wake up because he is soooo tired. Apnea is serious. It reduces your life span. It puts pressure on your heart and other organs. Your body is deprived of oxygen when you are not breathing properly. If in doubt, have him get checked.

Question by Just Me : Husbands cpap mask makes farting noises, wont stay put.?
Hi all. My husband was recently put on a fullface cpap mask for his sleep apnea (mask goes over mouth and nose). He was fitted for it and he wears a medium. He wears it maybe 5 minutes and it starts making a “farting” noise. He says he adjusts it quite a few times but there’s always a spot that doesnt fit right and that’s where the air leaks, therefor starting the fart/squeal sounds. Does anyone know how to correct this or if there’s a better mask? The current one is a breathright i think. It has a gel lining around the mask also.
thanks
How’s the nose pads work? I’ve heard of them. The reason he needs the full face one is, he’s a mouth snorer. We’ve tightened straps, moved the forehead guard, nothing helps.
Best answer:
Answer by dbzgtarp3 well he can tighten the straps or you can help by moving the mask till it fits him right, but sometimes the size is not right and there is nothing u can do, u can always ask ur health care provider or the respiratory therapist who helped u get it.
