Question by allie_84_us: Husband has sore throat around winter time help!?
My husband usually gets a severe sore throat around winter time. He went to an urgent care center and they felt he had strep throat. Test came back negative. So of course he’s put on antibiotics to help and a allergy medicine. The doctor said he had no swollen glands in his neck/ throat area but his throat area is extremely red. He went to the doctor a year ago and didn’t know what was wrong with him.
He had croup as a child, I’ve read online it’s extremely rare but he doesn’t have any the horse voice, barking cough etc.
He wasn’t diagnosed for any sinus infection problem either.
Anything come to your mind? I feel he does have sleep apnea. He snores alot and he’s actually at a normal weight for his height. he wakes up congested with a sore throat and is ALWAYS tired.
Any ideas?

It could be that in the winter, we have our heaters on and it causes dry skin, itching and even i have a sore dry throat from it. Try using a humidifier next to him all night. I found that it helped me out a lot.

After 8 hours, get out of bed and find something to do. The thing is, the body sleeps in 7-9 hour cycles. Once you get around to the 9-10th hour, you body will start the sleep cycle over again. That’s why, when someone sleeps for 12 hours, they are more tired throughout the day than their 8 hour counterpart.
On top of that, it’s terrible for your metabolism and overall energy level. So, you’ll sleep more because your body isn’t used to any sort of exercise.

Everybody is tired in the morning, you just have to get up. I don’t want to either, but I have a job so I have to.

Question by shaelin45: Live-in b/f doesn’t want sex. How do I know if it’s time to move on?
When I met my b/f a year ago, he wasn’t feeling well, & our sex life wasn’t very good. We moved in together, hoping things would change. It’s not been a very happy year due to his many challenges.

I’m very passionate & love sex and intimacy (in my 40’s). This has nothing to do with ’spicing’ it up.

We haven’t had sex or any real affection for 11 months. It breaks my heart. We love each other, but we now have a ’sweet room-mate’ type relationship. There is little intimacy from him (he doesn’t like to talk much). I’ve been more than compassionate and patient.

It turns out he has sleep apnea, which has contributed to his feeling so exhausted. He just started treatment.

Since we never had that ‘great love affair’, I don’t know if it’s his illness, or if I am hanging on to false hopes he is the man for me.

I’m depressed. I wanted so much more in a relationship. He has shown little interest in me, but is so kind in other ways, it’s confusing because he always wants to be near me.

You gave it a good shot. I’d say it’s time to call this quits. It might be his illness, it might not be.

However, the fact is, your needs are not being met. And he seems to have stated that he does not plan on ever meeting those needs. You owe it to yourself to find someone who can.

Question by Alex: Is it possible to have sleep apnea and insomnia at the same time?
I have been suffering with sleep apnea for months now. After waiting three stressful weeks for the machine to arrive, I used it but only managed to get 3 hours of sleep. I also noticed, that before I had the machine my average time spent sleeping decreased. Tonight I am fully awake and I cannot sleep at all. Is it possible to have sleep apnea and insomnia together? I have serious depression already, so I think that this is a logical explanation. What do I do?

go back and talk to your dr it could be related to Your depression
sleep disturbances are a symptoms of depression

if you are over weight lose some weight cos that will help the sleep apnoea
exercise will tire you out to a degree so that is a bonus and it help the depression

do some relaxing exercise before bed and drink a warm milky drink
