Question by lucky: To those w/ sleep apnea…?
I am on cpap therapy and I use a full face mask. Whenever I keep the mask on (im prone to ripping it off in my sleep), I wake up with a red mark on the bridge of my nose that stays with me for a good portion of the day. If I loosen the mask anymore it will leak. I cant change masks because I’ve already been through so many (the nose tubing w/ chin strap, the nasal mask, the mouth mask (the one that looks like a pacifier)). Do you have any tips or ideas to either hide this red mark or stop it from happening? I sleep on my back or my side so I dont think its my positioning.

i have the mask that only covers the nose and mouth..it has a bracket for the forehead to keep the pressure even on the face and i dont have face marks in the morning….so, try the nose and mouth c-cap mask….

Question by Miss J: Are there other medical conditions that create similar symptoms to those of depression and anxiety?
I am doing a little research. I have found a considerable amount of overlap in symptoms that are typically diagnosed as depression, anxiety and bi-polar disorder. I have looked into Epstein-Bar Virus, PTSD, Anemia, ADHD, Thyroid, and Sleep Apnea. It is amazing how much the symptoms overlap. I’d like to know if there are other conditions that cause or mimic symptoms of depression and/or anxiety. I would be interested in doing further research.

of course, psych illnesses should be the last to be considered after all other med tests done.
chronic diseases, cancers, diabetes, obesity, but the docs can misdiagnose for years. I know, took them 4 years, 3 picc lines for pseudomonas and a DNA test to prove I have Cystic Fibrosis.
I fired the last idiot who pulled the “depression” needs cymbalta crap, got an MRI brain, shows meningioma. before the new medication, had stuttering, wt loss, forgetfulness, fatigue, muscle weakness, pains in joints/muscles, nausea, low K+, that is not depression, esp the onset and presentation and I knew it wasn’t CF. depression can be misdiagnosed by apathetic docs, pt has vague sx, abd pain, or other sx, labs don’t really show anything, but a disease in process, MS, lupus, ovarian cancers, neurological sx, plus all the wrong meds are Rx’d and the pt suffers until their illness is so bad it ’s too late. supposedly 2% of the pop has depression, but the way they’d have you think, everyone is depressed clinically. see www.effexor.com phases of depression,

Question by stevensherm: Question for people with sleep apnea and those who have the cpap machines?
Just a couple weeks ago I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. I got the cpap machine and have adjusted pretty well to it. My question for those who have apnea and have the cpap machines, how long does it take before you really start feeling differently from the use of cpap? I mean I have felt better since using it. Before the cpap machine on a scale of 1-10 , 1 being completely exhausted 10 being energized I always felt like a 1, but now i feel maybe a 6-7. Does it just take time for you to get use to it and to feel more and more energized throughout the day?
I have been wearing it just a week so far.

You haven’t had it very long so give it some more time to get used to wearing it and for your body to get used to all that sleep you’ve been missing! If you aren’t feeling better in another couple of weeks, talk to your Dr, they may have to adjust the settings.

Question by kerri_lynn01: Those who co-sleep with baby???
When and how did you get your child to their own bed? My son was born premature and came home on an apnea monitor because he had sleep apnea and I was so scared to be far away from him so he slept in my bed next to me so I could be right there when he stopped breathing. Once the monitor went away, I was scared that he would stop breathing so he still slept in my bed. When he was about 10 months he went to his crib and everything was fine until he got really sick. Then he started sleeping in my bed again. He has been sleeping with me for about 9 months now. I want him out of our bed, my poor hubby has to sleep on the couch since my son is a very active sleeper. I bought him a big boy bed but he won’t stay in it at night?

So, what age did you “kick” your child out of your bed :) ? And how did you do it?

Best answer:

Answer by KKup
We “kicked” our kid out of bed when she was 3 months old, because she started rolling all around and smacking us in the head.

It is really up to you and your family. I know a friend that still cosleeps and the kid is over a year old.

We started with her sleeping next to us in a bassinet and then moved her to her own room after 2 weeks.

Question by 525: Question for those of you who smoke with your baby(ies) in the car?
Do you think your crack in the window is helping get rid of all your cigarette smoke? Or do you realize that you are placing your child in danger of developing serious illnesses such as asthma and heart problems?

Why is this always such an argument? Would you not be worried if your 3 year old started smoking? Why are you doing this to your children?

PS This question is based off my anger for my cousin who has a son who developed severe asthma at 6 months, snoring and sleep apnea at 1 and is now dying in Childrens Hospital Pgh because she did this to him.

I never smoked in the car with my son, but I know exactly what you are talking about.
