Question by jerry w: My four year seems to have sleep apnea. And she is overweight we are working on all of this?
by trying to help her lose weight and she is going to a sleep study. the doctor will then decide if she needs her tonsils out. My husband has sleep apnea. I am concerned for her to sleep.
How dangerous is this condition for a four year old. Yes we are working on the weight and she is still getting testing done. My question is …is there a chance children can pass away with this?
I may be to worried about something that can be easily fixed with diet and surgery. I find myself going to check on her …thru the night.

It is not unusual for chubby 4 year old, to have large tonsils and adenoids resulting in snoring and short periods of sleep apnea. As the child grows the size of the tonsils and adenoids will also regress. The only problem is, regression to an adult sized tonsil and adenoid is not complete until the child is in her teens.
Short periods of apnea is tolerable, but prolonged apnea lasting more than 15 secs. is a problem, since tissue oxygenation drops as a result of poor lung ventilation. To compensate for this poor oxygenation, the heart has to increase its output by increasing its rate of pumping. If this persist for years, the heart’s size will enlarge, and because of extra work the heart tires and starts to fail.
Keep close touch with your pediatrician and sleep center.

Question by : Could this just be Sleep Apnea?
Within the last two weeks, I have been feeling real confused and hazy, and tired, even when I get 8 hours of sleep. I am an active 16 year old male. My father does have sleep apnea, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I had it. I had blood work tested on a lot stuff, and it all came back normal. This feeling of being tired, hazy, and confused will go away, and then come back again. If I become more active, will it also help to make it go away? I seem to be sitting in the house a lot more also.

It could be sleep apnea. Being tired and confused would definitely fit. Do you have headaches when you wake up? You should probably see a sleep specialist and consider having a sleep study.

Question by Sherry: Is God keeping this person around because I’m going to the wrong church ?
A close friend of mine claims an aneurysm was discovered on an X-ray in 1999 after a car wreck. He has not had surgery or treatment for it. If this is true, how is it that it hasn’t disected. He also had gotten “messages from God” in the past that he was going to pass away in a certain month, which didn’t happen.

I am going to a church he considers to be legalistic and has been trying to get me out of it for years. If his sicknesses are genuine, is God keeping him around because of this? He used to call me on the telephone every night and we talked for about three to four hours (not always about my church) and I was getting annoyed (see Proverbs 25:17).

He also has had for many years:

Congestive heart failure
Severe asthma
Cellulitis of the legs
Sleep apnea
Obesity (well over 300 pounds)

Given all these conditions at once, how has he survived for so long unless it’s for the reason I stated? Since 2002 he had kept telling me his time was “short” until two years ago. He has stopped telling me that because he knows I won’t believe him. Am I wrong in being skeptical about his sicknesses. He is now 65 years old.

Question by : Does this sound like I have sleep apnea?
I have had headaches alot. All the time. I read online that’s the biggest symptom. I have a hard time falling asleep and I wake up with my nose plugged but as soon as I get up it goes away. My tonsils are enlarged but the doctor says I’m not sick, I went to an ENT they said I need a sleep study

You need a sleep study done. You could have apnea caused by enlarged tonsils. See what the study shows.
