Question by insomina: Sleep Test and Medical Coverage?
A few months ago a doctor gave me a referral for a sleep test. However, at the time I was on temporary coverage since I was removed from my father’s work plan from having graduated from college. After getting the sleep test cost estimate of over $ 3,000 my temporary wouldn’t cover, the referral has been sitting there.
Now, I finally will be getting full coverage soon with Cigna that comes with my new job. My question is, will Cigna cover the in lab polysomnography for diagnoses of sleep apnea, even though the referral was given prior to the start of their coverage?
I have found a recent policy that Cigna does cover such procedures, but I need to know if having pre-admittance referral will effect getting covered. Let me know thanks!

Depends on the state in which you live. Some require coverage for pre-existing conditions.
You need to call Cigna & just ask a general question using the policy you have as an “example” & ask about pre-existing conditions.
If not, speak to your MD & ask if he considers this a pre-existing condition…if not let him write you a new prescription for the sleep lab.
Good luck

well if your tests came back normal, then I am sure everything is ok, but if you can’t shake that awful feeling, get a 2nd opinion. THat may help a lot

Question by sky0013: Can I request for my daughter to be checked for sleep apnea? How do they test a infant for this?
The other night my daughter’s breathing patterns were quit off when she was sleep. (Doc says that happens with infants) She sleep with the Angle care sensor under her mattress and it went off. I ran in her room and she seem real silent. I pushed on her back and her little hands moved. I am so freaked out. The Anglecare monitor sensor went off twice that night. Trying to figure out what happen……and what to do next. I talked with her doctor and she told me to keep a eye on her at night and that was it.
She is 7 weeks old

They’d do a sleep study, watch her and use monitors overnight in a lab.
I know someone who had this, she was cosleping so they did the study with her sleeping beside him, turns out she saved her son’s life 10 times a night, he’d start to quit breathing and she’d touch him and he would start again.

Question by Sweetashes: Should I get a sleep test done?
Lately I have just been feeling so out of it. I try to get up early, but I always end up going back to sleep when I don’t have to work. I also have tried different energy drinks/sodas with caffeine and none seem to really work! Could I have sleep apnea? Or could I just like to be up during the night and sleep during the day?

I have the opposite I can’t ever go to sleep, even after being up 24 hours.
Sorry about this.
But yes I think you should make a doctors appointment with your primary care doctor and he/she will give you a referral to a specialist.
And as far as energy drinks those aren’t good for you at all, so be careful with the energy drinks.
Your schedule, may be you can change it to like what you said.
I hope everything works out with you.
I hope I helped you:(
