Question by : Can someone recommend an organization that would help paying for the prescription Strattera?
My wife was just prescribed several different medications and one of them is Strattera. Through her Medicare plan it is a $ 75 copay. We can’t afford it. My son is also taking medication for ADHD and I am taking pain medications and will be getting treated for sleep apnea soon and possible knee surgery. Can someone point me in the right direction for assistance with this medication.

First of all, take a deep breath. Make an appointment for you family Dr and explain your symptoms. He/she will take it from there. Long term untreated apnea can cause issues with your health. However, it is long term; like years and years. The test for sleep apnea that is usually used is a simple procedure where you place a probe (like a little brace) over your finger. The machine is the size of a large deck of cards. The box records your oxygen level. When it is red by the computer the results go to your Dr and he goes from there. Usually this is done over the night time.

Question by pennypincher: Do sleep apnea treatments help someone if their sleep apnea is caused by chronic phlegm?
My husband says I snore sometimes and don’t sleep sound. Due to allergies, I have phlegm quite frequently and I think that is my problem. Will the c-pap machine do any good if that is the problem?

I think it COULD help in theory, i mean it’s a forced air system right? You’d probably be best off treating the source of the apnea, because in your specific case sleep apnea (and snoring) seem to just be a symptom of your allergies and congestion. Talk to your doctor about a nighttime decongestant for long term use.
You probably don’t want to use the over the counter nighttime decongestants for a very extended period of time because they’re made with ephedrine or pseudophedrine, which isn’t good to take every day for a long time.

Question by Brittany: Could someone please edit this for me? Keep in mind that I am not finished.?
Fourteen years ago, I was born in Sherman, Texas in the WNJ hospital. I weighed seven pounds, three ounces, and I was twenty inches long. I was my parent’s first child, so they were absolutely thrilled. Within thirty minutes, I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome which is a condition to which I couldn’t breathe in my sleep. I was asleep in the same hospital room as my mom and the nurse had turned off the volume of the breathing monitor so she could sleep. She woke up in the middle of the night and saw a red light flashing next to my crib, she pressed the call button and a nurse came rushing in. I was brought to the OR, and they shoved a stick down my throat to get out all of the mucus so I could breathe. After that, I had to stay in the hospital for weeks, until my body adjusted and I could breathe well in my sleep.
sorry its in the software catagory, i dont know how it got there. my bad

it seems pretty dramatic but change this phrase “and they shoved a stick down my throat” it sounds so unscientific…
