Question by Alex: Is it possible to have sleep apnea and insomnia at the same time?
I have been suffering with sleep apnea for months now. After waiting three stressful weeks for the machine to arrive, I used it but only managed to get 3 hours of sleep. I also noticed, that before I had the machine my average time spent sleeping decreased. Tonight I am fully awake and I cannot sleep at all. Is it possible to have sleep apnea and insomnia together? I have serious depression already, so I think that this is a logical explanation. What do I do?

go back and talk to your dr it could be related to Your depression
sleep disturbances are a symptoms of depression

if you are over weight lose some weight cos that will help the sleep apnoea
exercise will tire you out to a degree so that is a bonus and it help the depression

do some relaxing exercise before bed and drink a warm milky drink
best wishes

Question by Wesley Crusher: What can me and my wife do to sleep in the same bed?
My wife and I have been married since 06, everything is great regarding are intimacy, communication, love for each other, and how we get along is great. We have one major issue that we seem to not get over that is sleeping together.

My wife has a history of sleep issues in her family..her mom is a light sleeper and her dad had sleep apnea and they sometimes sleep in seperate rooms. My wife sleeps off and on during the night and doesn’t move, me I sleep all night mostly but move and turn. I use to be heavy and snore alot now I lost 30 pounds and am still losing weight but still snore a little… I have snore spray, mouth guard, slept on side and nothing seems to work. We may sleep 2 hrs together but by 11pm if were both up she gets upset and a bit angry in her voice and I usually go the next room to sleep.

I love my wife and she doesn’t think sleeping together is a big deal but to me it is…,what can we do to work on this problem? Sleep clinic? Psycologist? We also got a bed that is temper pedic and she has a sound machine and earplugs.

We are trying for a baby soon and want to share the same room before the baby is born..,please help me… I tried pillow between legs too but I can’t stay still…I just don’t want this issue to hurt are marriage later on…it means alot emotional for me to sleep together as man and wife, but I know she has problems sleeping and doesn’t want to take sleeping pills…

Thanks
T

Just get twin beds and have them in the same room, its not that big of a deal. Get over it.

Sleep apnea is not a psycholigical disease its a repiratory disease. It can cause insulin resistance without obesity.

I am getting my soft palate reduction, adenoidectomy and tonsillectomy at the same time.
I have a couple of questions, i would rather have the general public address than the doctor. Because all the doctor can give me is statistics and ‘rare’ occassions.
Is bleeding of the throat prevalent after the surgery?
I heard i would not get my original voice back after the surgery, how true is this?
Would i lose weight, after the surgery?
How long would i have to go without solid food?
Should spicy food be avoided at all costs, after the surgery?
Would i be more prone to infections and allergies after the surgery?
I’m having this surgery because i have OSA – Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
