Question by : please please help!? I have severe sleep deprivation/sleep disorder!!?
Im 17 now, and this all started when i was 14. I started to sleep late to stay up with friends on the phone or chat because it was awesome at the time. At first it was harmless, but over the years I could never shake off the habit. Im 17 now and a senior at high school and what worked when i was 14 does not work now. Im overburdened with homework/projects/college applications and i simply cant do them because im too tired. I feel tired all through the day and come home after school to sleep for 3-4 hours, after i sleep i do homework/project/study for tests/ apply to college or whatever it is and cant sleep until 1/2 am. I wake up for school at 5:45 everyday and the cycle continues. No matter how much i try to keep myself up after school and do homework then go to sleep soon after, my brain just doesnt work. I need to sleep then wake up then sleep again so i never get a full 7/8 hours of sleep only breaks of sleep. Its been happening for years now and its seriously affecting me and i feel too tired to do anything, i just want to lay down and sleep all the time. Help me in any way? do i have a serious/dangerous problem? how can i fix it so i just sleep at night?

I suffered with insomnia for a long time too. Have you tried 5HTP (herbal)? It works amazingly for me, but different people get different results. Seeing as you’re under 18 you might want to check with a naturopath before self medicating

Question by RandomGirl: I am writing an essay. I need help ending my 2nd paragraph? PLEASE!?
I need help with my language essay about my birth.
Here it is:
The day I was born and the days that followed it were very eventful. My mom arrived at the hospital at 7 in the morning. My due date was November 29th, but I was planned to be born on November 21st to avoid my birthday ever falling on Thanksgiving. After 13 hours and 53 minutes of labor, I was welcomed into the world at 8:53 pm. I weighed 6lbs 14oz, was 21”, and had strawberry-blond hair. My parents were very excited to have their second child. Weeks after I was born, I stopped breathing and was rushed to the hospital. After many tests, it was determined I had sleep apnea. I was then put on a breathing machine for 6 months. My parents were very scared but were hopeful that all would work out. __________________________________________________________________________(conclusion)
That’s the second paragraph in my essay, duhhh.

First of all, take a deep breath. Make an appointment for you family Dr and explain your symptoms. He/she will take it from there. Long term untreated apnea can cause issues with your health. However, it is long term; like years and years. The test for sleep apnea that is usually used is a simple procedure where you place a probe (like a little brace) over your finger. The machine is the size of a large deck of cards. The box records your oxygen level. When it is red by the computer the results go to your Dr and he goes from there. Usually this is done over the night time.

Question by jenny: diagnose me please :( heart palpitations vasovagel syncope sleep apnea frequent hiccups?
I think there is definitely something wrong with me, and I am trying to search the internet to see if I can find anything to help or if anyone can help me.
Here are my issues:
A few nights ago I started having trouble falling asleep. It feels like as soon as my body starts to fall asleep, I stop breathing thus causing me to wake up. This will happen several times before I actually fall asleep. I dont think I have sleep apnea because once I am sleeping I dont think I have any issues breathing. Also, I have difficulty swallowing as I am trying to fall asleep.
When I was a child (maybe 8 years old) I was diagnosed with Vasovagel syncope, causing me to faint for various reasons. I havent actually fainted in several years because I’ve had enough experiences so I know what to avoid. I do however still experience feeling faint if I get up too quickly or if I dont eat for a few hours.
Since I was about 15, I’ve had heart palpitations on a somewhat regular basis and I also get the hiccups on a very regular basis, usually occurring multiple times a day, every day. The hiccups are not brought on by eating/drinking in my case.
I should probably mention I’m only 22.
Anyways, I’m hoping someone will know something to help me because I can not afford health insurance at this time. I dont know if any of my symptoms are related, but I sure would love to find out. Any information is greatly appreciated!!!
