Question by Pominoz79: Trapped in Australia owing to failed marriage part 3?
Declining more & I don’t have the money to deal with it. I presently have a hiatus hernia for which I have to fork out for medication each month. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea which I can’t treat as cpap alone is approx $ 2000 & I also suffer a skin condition I need medication for & panic attacks / depression which naturally are very bad right now.

Given I have so little to offer any future potential partners I have not managed to find anyone & why would another woman take all this on plus 2 kids part time.

In my panic I have tried to re-concile with my wife & have suggested counseling but she’s already got exactly what she wants & falling on deaf ears.

I can’t keep borrowing money from my family in the UK & am now looking at selling everything & still borrowing just to return to the UK but still my wife will not agree as it’s not in her best interest. I think it’s in our kids best interests we move where I can live, get help & support both emotionally & financially till I’m back on my feet as well as the medical help I need.

I am essentially trapped & stuffed now by a well thought out & executed plan by my wife & feel it only fair we all return to our homeland where we’d all survive. Let’s face it, she’s a nurse which I supported her through during her studies & her Dad & remainder of her family there too so she won’t struggle for help or a job.

Unfortunately the Australian government are uninterested in what happens regards our kids & I which I think is disgusting given I brought both of them up while working full time in the UK.

Is there any help I can get from the UK government regards this as I’ve went down every avenue I can out here & got nothing but my savings wiped out.

Nasty as it is I’ve reported her Mum for her sham relationship & also reported my wife to the UK government when I found out only 2 months ago that she’s been illegally claiming child benefit from the UK the whole time we’ve been here straight to her single account & it only

turn to the church, perhaps they will have a way out. Good luck. You might have to leave your wife, seems like she is only interested in her own well-being.

Question by The Curmudgeon: Questions about sleep disorder – Part One..?
I’ve been on sleeping pills for the last eight or nine months now. At first it was just the over the counter stuff you can buy anywhere but they quickly became useless, so I’m now on prescribed pills (Amitriptyline – hope I spelled that correctly) and even that isn’t working that great anymore.

Basically, I have a 12 hour work shift ahead of me and I’ve not slept all night (it’s 5am as I type this). I’ve had a blood test (find out the results in a few days) but I can’t imagine they’ll find anything there. Basically, I think the doc’s just going to give me stronger pills, which I’d like to avoid.

I read somewhere about Sleep Centre’s – any idea what kind of thing happens in there and if they get good results?

Also – I hate to sound like a drama queen and call it “insomnia”, but does this sound like genuine insomnia to you? I mean, I DO sleep, but very rarely without sleeping pills, and I tend to sleep better at afternoons on the couch etc.

Sorry to go on, but, well.. it’s 5am. I’ve nothing better to do.

Amitriptyline works for me even a 1/4 of a 25mg tablet. Maybe it’s a combination of stressful job and caffeine. Don’t take caffeine even a small amount as it always makes it more difficult to sleep at night even if you had it in the morning. I work right next to the sleep lab and I never heard of them treating insomnia, unless it’s associtated with restless leg syndrome. They mainly diagnose obstructive sleep apnea and narcolepsy. But I have seen documentries on T.V. about sleep clinics that treat insomnia.

My husband went to the Ear Nose and Throat doctor to discuss options to improve his quality of sleep and lessen his snoring. The doctor wants to perform a tonsillectomy, re-set his deviated septum, and surgically trim his soft palate. We’ve got a second opinion scheduled for next week, but my husband is understandably nervous. Has any one else had this procedure performed? Were the results what you had hoped for? Was recovery difficult?
