Sleep Apnea Treatment

Question by BibleThumper52: Is ist possible for death to occur due to over admistered oxygen therapy; at night for instance?
My husband has COPD and is being treated for Sleep Apnea via oxygen therapy and a face mask for sleeping. Is it possible for him to receive too much oxygen while sleeping and ultimately causing death?

Since he isn’t getting enough oxygen due to the COPD he needs as much as he can get. He is in no danger of death from too much oxygen.

I have a sleep study coming up. I’m not convinced I have it… but if I do, will the study catch it for sure? Or could I possibly have a “good night” and they wouldn’t detect it? I guess I’m asking if apnea can be an occasional thing, like a few times a week or if it’s always every single night. I frequently wake up gasping for air, but not every night.
