I’m 30f and a big girl, 5′9 225. I’ve had two sleep studies and have been using a c-pap for over 4 years now.. I still wake up a couple of times a night and sometimes my mouth is drooling and wet. I do stay asleep longer than I did before c-pap, at one time I woke every hour and a half. But on the whole my symptoms don’t seem that much different than before the c-pap. It’s been going on so long that I’ve just accepted it. Is it normal? Should I be doing something about it? I also have diabetes and asthma.

Most of the time, drooling during sleep means that you are breathing through your mouth instead of your nose. Maybe the c-pap machine causes your nose to clog up a little. There is a chin strap that can be worn to keep the mouth closed, which forces you to breathe through your nose, but it doesn’t work if you have a severely stuffy nose. You could try the chin strap or taking sudafed at bedtime to see if that helps.

The Dr. just diagnois me with Bradycardia at 48 bpm 70% of the time and 58 bpm at my highest rate also, he had found two leaking valves. I’m also over weight which doesn’t help but, I’m limited because of my arthitis that I have. What would be my next step. The Dr. said that I was not on any med’s that would slow my heart rate down. I also have type 2 diabetes. I’m going to have a sleep apnea test done next week. Thank you for any help answering these questions. What should I expect to happen from all of this? Thanks again.

ok, the best thing to do is eat right and excersise. honestly, you know how to eat. just eat small healthy portions, and only eat until you are full. healthy in between meal snacks like vegetables (NOT FRUITS) will help increase your metabolism naturally. and the best excersise? the one you will do! just walking for about an hour will make a drastic difference in how you feel and improve your self esteem as well.

my 2 month old snores during sleep. it sounds like a congested raspy snore. almost like she has lots of mucus in her chest. i ased her doctor and she said she was fine. but i looked up snoring on line and found that snoring is the #1 symptom for sleep apnea which could be deadly. do any of you have babies that snore and this is perfectly fine? or are familiar with sleep apnea and have any advice?

heheh, My son snores always has he’s 2 now, and he’s perfectly fine, comes from mamma and daddy who snores lol, If your doctor sais its okay, Im sure its okay hon!!

I am having trouble sleeping i wake up gasping like i stopped breathing had sleep apnea test done normal results having heart palpitations and dizziness. i feel like giving up. The docs don’t seem to take me serious. I am miserable and feeling so hopeless. I worry and i know anxiety causes alot of symptoms but i feel like it’s more than just anxiety. Had heart test done in er and they were normal.

well if your tests came back normal, then I am sure everything is ok, but if you can’t shake that awful feeling, get a 2nd opinion. THat may help a lot

I’ve had several test where overnight I wore the thing on my finger to test my oxygen saturation levels, and apparently the levels went down because now the Dr. has ordered an oxygen concentrator to wear at night. We’re doing another oxygen level test in a few weeks, to see if the concentrator helps. I’m just wondering if this is a normal first step, because I see a lot of people on here use other things. I’ve also noticed that I’m waking up with horrible headeaches after sleeping with the oxygen, is that normal?
It’s just a normal concentrator with a humidifier bottle and nasal canula. I don’t think the headaches are from it being too tight, because it only goes over my ears and is just tight enough that it doesn’t fall off.

There is a great dental device for sleep apnea that you wear like a mouthguard. It makes your lower jaw jut forward therefore keeping your airway open. Much simpler than the oxygen concentrator and cheaper too. The only problem is that you have to find a dentist that makes them. Call around and ask for referrals.

Also you might be getting the headaches if the concentrator is strapped on too tight, just a thought…

My daughter has always been a long sleeper, but more than usual I would think. She has been treated for sleep apnea in the past, but now I don’t know what is the matter. She has seen her pediatrician for normal things this year. Pediatrician said that some kids are long sleepers and remain so even into adulthood. For example, one day this week, she came home from school and fell asleep in the house at about 3PM because I could tell she was sleepy grumpy. I tried waking her up later at about 4 then 5 then 6, but she wouldn’t get up. Through past experience I knew that she would just sleep through the night and she did till 530AM the next morning. That is 14.5 hrs!!! She woke up still wanting to sleep. The doctor has said that she is anemic, but I don’t know if this is something that is a part of some children’s life or what. She has been like this for a while, so I’m not too overly shocked about her sleeping so long. This is the first time that I have ever discussed it on here. Her normal bedtime is 7PM and she gets up at 530AM. Thanks for all of your input!!
Yes she was anemic because of a blood screen. She has just started taking flintstones iron vitamins to see if this will help.

My sister was that way. When she started Kindergarten, she would come home after school on Friday, go to sleep, and sleep until the next morning. She was the kind of person that always needed a lot of sleep, and you NEVER woke her up after she fell asleep. She was just nasty if you did. She was home this weekend. She is now 23 and took a 2 hour nap in the middle of the afternoon because she needed more sleep. It is a life long thing for her, and she needs sleep!!

How “just’ is just? If he has some swelling in his throat, that may be obstructing his airway a bit, causing the snoring. I would assume that after it has gone down you should see a reduction. If it’s been a while, then you need to call the surgeon.

Throughout my life and even nowdays, but especially when I was 8-14, I have sleep paralysis but often times when I get this, I also cannot breathe and It is not until I panic that I wake up. I also note that at about age 19 when I began regularly using marijuana, the occurance, or at least realization, of sleep paralysis and not being able to breath while waking up has dramatically ceased and is very rare now.

amazing how these urban myths continue to circulate. None of what you said true ist.Ermüdung of sleep apnea is usually controlled by use of the device, CPAP, when you sleep. Add Sublingual B-12 will increase energy, but not vinegar …..

He wakes up sometimes until four o’clock in the morning because it is a currency broker and studies, graphs and dosage of trade with other markets at this time, because different countries have different starting points. When he dose very difficult for me a deep sleep that I get the feeling, I’m rested and awake at last. Even if he is very calm, and although I am very tired, I was rolling at the end and eventually I’m awake at the end. Unconsciously bothering me is that he does not sleep on my side. I can not sleep deeply, if not sleep next to me. Should there be a sleep disorder or is this normal? If you have a sleep disorder, the type of sleep disorder is it? I can not find anything online. , it is a sleep disorder. You can try to sleep in different rooms to get used to it not by myself at night, but I guess it’s an emotional thing where you can feel safe when he’s there with you. I doubt your partner will change their habits and can use to speak with a consultant to see what I do sleep better. Lack of sleep can give you many problems, especially if it is a chronic problem.
