Sometimes I feel that i am little unconsious, not too dizzy though.. trying to get more oxygen by taking a deep breathe due to weird symptom.. I dont think it is sleep apnea because I am physically fit.. weight l40lbs and my height is 5 feet 6. if it is not sleep apnea? what would it be? feeling that I have no oxygen, taking a deep breathe to feel better? in my body? head? Well, actually it could be sleep apnea. Just because you are in shape, doesn’t mean you don’t have it. It is more common in overweight people but not always. Do you know if you snore?

You should check on it because it could possibly be something related to your heart. Please don’t freak out but it’s not exactly the norm to be waking up with trouble breathing.
Most likely it’s sleep apnea but don’t freak out. HOwever you need to take of this because in recent studies, sleep apnea has been related to heart disease.

Just go see a physician/PA/NP ok? Please don’t worry too much.

Question by Peter C: I have mild sleep apnea. what are natural methods to improve sleep without having to use a CPAP machine ? ?

Answer by Bellarina
Lose weight, and also cut down on booze and coffee if they are things that you ever drink. If you have sensitive airways, manage dust and allergies. Plus, a saline nasal spray can help if you have sinus problems that are making things worse.
The CPAP machine is not that bad, noisy or uncomfortable. You’ll be surprised how much better you feel after an effective nights sleep. Use it if you really need it.

PS. I just remembered that some people can be helped by specialist dental splints. These are designed to modify the position of your jaw. The aim is to stop the soft structures in your mouth and upper throat (such as soft palate and uvula) from drooping and restricting your breathing. Not everyone finds them comfortable or effective, but it may be worth investigating.

Question by bastian915: sleep apnea……any natural treatments besides the machine?
Was wondering if there might be some natural treatment for sleep apnea with out having to use the machine that you wear a mask all night and it puts greater inward pressure of air so you lungs fully fill up with air. My mother uses the machine and she wants me to be tested for apnea because of some symptoms I have but I doubt I could get used to wearing something all night. any suggestions.

if you’re overweight, losing a few pounds may help.

Question by bboy244: What are the possible side effects of a cpap machine? Does anyone know any natural cures for sleep Apnea/?

Best answer:

Answer by rider3171
The only issues I know of with CPAP machines are the noise, some condensation of the air line going to the mask, and the comfort of the mask itself. The only “natural cure” I am aware of is to lose weight, and that may or may not work.

Good luck.

Question by bboy244: My doctor told me I need a cpap. Is there any breathing exercises or natural cures for sleep apnea?

No you need to go get the machine and get this treated before this gets serious. There are lots of different masks to choose from as well as nasal pillows which is what my husband chose to use.
