Question by bry7josh: I went for my sleep study. The good news is I don’t have narcolepsy, However I have disturbed sleep apnea.
Just thought I’d share the good new. But I didn’t find out what they do for disturbed sleep apnea. They say my oxygen level went down to 80 and they put me on oxygen. Then they say I had leg kicks, snoring and coughing. I guess this is why they call it disturbed sleep apnea. Does any one know what kind of treatments they use to treat this disorder. Thank you for your answers. Hugs! Von

Discuss this with your doctor. Or you can look it up online. There is definitely a need, however, for treatment.

Question by Jimmy Fox: I’m very fatigue and have been diagnosed with narcolepsy and sleep apnea. Can you help?
I have been so tired for the last ten years. My testosterone is 150 and should be over 600. I’ve been to a lot of doctors from endocrinologist to sleep disorder doctors. I use a CAP and I’m on or have tried hormone replacement, stimulates, and specialty medications for narcolepsy. I don’t feel depressed but have tried several antidepressants. I’m sure most people’s advice would be to exercise. I wish I had the energy to exercise. I’m very lucky because I’m not overweight and most people think I work out. I’ve had friends tell me I’ve got to make myself exercise but they don’t understand that my energy level is about that of someone who has not sleep in days. I only work a few days a week and I have to take stimulates to be able to stay awake to work. I want to be a normal human and have normal energy before I sleep my life away. Has anyone ever felt this way and found a cure? Please. Please, Please help. I would appreciate it more that you will ever know.

Question by scotslad27: Is this narcolepsy or a sleep disorder?
Well for a long time now I have suffered from excessive fatigue. I a always tired, never feel refreshed after a good nights sleep. I can feel fine one minute and the next I get so tired I feel like I’m going to pass out/fall asleep.
It got to the point where I was scared to yawn as I thought I was going to collapse. I have had ecmvery blood test going and even an MRI of my brain and the doctors can’t find anything wrong. Depression and anxiety have also been looked at and pretty much ruled out.
I also had these sort of attacks where my legs would suddenly feel like they weren’t string enough to hold me up or I’d feel really weak and almost pass out. Also when I was falling asleep I would suddenly jerk awake, kicking my arms and legs almost like having a seizure. the jerking I experienced was firstly called myoclonic jerk by the doctor bug I knew this was different so recorded it on my webcam and showed her and she then said it was more like a seizure which is why they thought it was epilepsy.
But a few times recently I have woken up and not been able to move. I always sleep on my front and always wake on my front. But these times I have woken flat in my back and literally cannot move. And it’s like someone is pushing my head back onto the pillow. It lasts a few seconds and then I manage to jerk myself out of it. When this happens I also remember having very lucid dreams, including a lot if dreams that I am levitatining/flying. I was advised by a med student on here that the not being able to move sounded like sleep paralysis.
I looked it up and it sounds exactly like what happens to me. The thing that interested me was that sleep paralysis can be a symptom of narcolepsy. When I looked at narcolepsy I was amazed to find out about it as all the symptoms seemed to fit. The attacks I have sound exactly like cataplexy. Lucid dreams, excessive daytime tiredness and all the other symptoms seem to match exactly.
And apparently some of these symptoms often get confused with epilepsy. Would it be worth me having a sleep study done? Can this diagnose epilepsy? I believe that if the doctor can confirm cataplexy then I have to have narcolepsy as it doesn’t exist without it, is this correct?
I’ve been signed off work for over a year now due to the fatigue.
Lol I know narcolepsy is a sleep disorder. I meant is it narcolepsy or some other sleep disorder. Just didnt word it very well as I was tired
