Go for liposuction, 100 pounds at a time, and of course you will get doctors’ advice before he undertakes such a radical weight loss solution, as it can be dangerous.

Question by Mscott21: How does one lose 150 pounds WITHOUT surgery?
My doctor has just informed me that my body is too large and despite my efforts I’m not losing weight. His command is for me to lose 150 pounds or I will be dead before my 40th birthday. I have Diabetes, High blood pressure, sleep apnea and nuropathy and Retnothopy. I’m at a risk for a stroke, heart attack and cancer not to mention the rest of the stuff. It gotten so bad, I just completely gave up. But I have a little boy and a wife and need to go on for them.

Any suggestions.

You might think about trying this book called “The Movie Star Diet” by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn’t think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout as well.

Question by SadToday22: How many calories do I need to comsume per day to lose weight; health issues w/ hubby ? *Long Story Attached*?

I am overweight and so is my husband. I used to be very fit, but never “skinny”, but I loved my toned and strong body. Now I am older (25) and have gained about 50lbs w/in the past 7 years. Lately I’ve lost around 15 (I quit taking BC pills and got an IUC, lost 12 lbs in less than 2 weeks). Anyway, I REALLY need to lose about another 40 lbs. I am so afraid I will become diabetic.

My husband is my biggest concern though. He also was an athlete such as myself but has lost much of his athletic motivation in the past few years. He hurt his foot a few years back and gave up basketball and football, now he only plays golf. He’s always been a bigger guy, even as a child his parents said he was always stocker and much taller than the other kids. When we met he was probably about 340 lbs (he’s 6′3) but was lifting weights and running on almost a dailey basis. He was still overweight but looked good and had lots of energy. Now he is at 400 lbs, tired all the time and I am so afraid he will have a heart attack (his father had one about 2 years ago, so he’s got that strike against him too….).

It is just the 2 of us, no kids. I know we’ve got to make some major lifestyle changes, which we are working on (he is getting a CPAP machine for his breathing -sleep apnea- at night so he won’t be so tired) and my husband basically doesn’t eat anything but dinner. I’ve tried to start exercising as much as possible and encouraging him but he’s so tired all the time, I don’t think that’s going to work until his sleep apnea is under control. I don’t know what to do. He’s had lab work done, etc and all his t4s, CBCs, and cholesrol levels are perfect. How can he weigh 400 lbs but not eat unhealthy and consumers < 1500 calories per day???? I feel like he's psychologically come to terms with being a large man, which is wonderful, I LOVE bigger guys and he's a great person and incredibly intelligent, but I want him to live his life out and be healthy.

Anyway, how can I figure out how many calories each of us needs to consume per day to lose weight?

PS- Please don't suggest Adkins or South Beach, my doctor strongly is against those.

Hi!
Everyone has a different amount of calories that should be required. This is determined by first calculating BMR. Google BMR calculator, and then answer a series of questions.
You actually need to eat less than the calories shown to lose weight.
Hope this helps.

Question by Erk: help me find a good healthy way to lose weight?
i need to lose weight desperately. i have always been overweight and i even had gastric bypass surgery five years ago. i lost 165 pounds. i have gained about 50 pounds back. i am terrified to gain the weight back. before i lost the weight i had uncontrollable high blood pressure, asthma and sleep apnea. i had to sleep with a breathing machine every night. i dont ever want to go back to that way of life but slowly i seem to be heading in that way. i keep trying but i cant get with the program. i cant do any thing like slim fast because i cant have alot of sugar because of the bypass, it makes me VERY sick. i wonder if anyone knows of a good healthy program. i am 43 and have a 3 year old little girl. i couldnt have children before the weight loss and as soon as i lost the weight i was blessed with this wonderful daughter. so i have alot to live for. i need help so if anyone knows of anything i would really love some advice. thanks.

Question by singing_angel_of_the_night: How much weight could I lose in 1 year, and how do I encourage myself to just finally do it?
I am 25 years old, and back in 2002, I was at a healthy weight of about 150 (I’m 5′8″). In the end of 2002, I met who is now my husband and we have had 4 children. I am now around 320 pounds. Most people say “Oh well, you’ve had 4 children, of course that’s why you’ve gained weight”..and my response to them is always “No, I used the excuse of being pregnant to eat whatever I wanted, that’s why I am this way.”. Well, the thing is now it’s worse than ever, I am always wanting something sweet, everyday. It’s like I am addicted to junk food and I’m having such a hard time trying to quit it. Soda and Junk – that’s basically what my everyday eating habits consist of. Depression may play a part in my eating habits, but I’m not depressed like “omg I wanna kill myself” depressed, more like a “I wish I could just get my old self back, and keep the husband and kids”…I’ve decided that no matter what starting the first of the year I am going to lose weight – I have to…I don’t have diabetes, or high blood pressure, but it’s only a matter of time. I already have sleep apnea. So my question is – how do I shake myself of always putting it off, making excuses and what are some good ways to break the junk eating habit – how can I motivate myself to just finally get up and do the darn thing? Yes I know, my kids and husband should be enough motivation, it’s just hard. If I walk my back hurts, i’m out of breath (ontop of that, Im a smoker, and that’s another thing I intend to let go of strike midnight on new years). Realistically, how much weight could someone my size loose in 1 year, just knocking out the soda, candy and junk – going to water, fruits and veggies and steamed and baked foods? Anyone have a success story or any tips?

Please, no rude comments, I beat myself up enough, I don’t need it from anyone else.

Thanks!

Losing weight and getting fitter is really quite simple. All you have to do is a few simple things. Firstly, clear your fridge of fatty junk foods. If there’s no temptation, you cannot fall. Secondly, stock up on watermelon and other fruits. Watermelon is excellent because it clears out your digestive system of toxins and waste, leaving you feeling and being healthier. Next, begin exercising every day. Do not go too hard. If running, don’t go fast or uphill, unless you want bulky muscle. A steady pace each day for a minimum of 30 minutes will allow you to shed fat and tone your body. Set a day each week when you each junk food, but try not to go overboard and ruin the work of every other day. Drink plenty of water, often when you think you are hungry, you are actually thirsty. If you are getting cravings, have a glass of water, wait 5 minutes, and then see if you still want food. This usually gets rid of those nasty afternoon hunger pangs for me!

Good luck, and I hope you get the results you want!!
