To breathe your muscles in your throat have to tense. In sleep apnea the muscles get too relaxed and your breathing slows or stops. People don’t just stop breathing and die, but they may get poor quality sleep or wake up and go back to sleep a lot. Some people with sleep apnea sleep with these little masks over their face, it’s something you would get from your doctor. No you wouldn’t need someone to watch you but you should speak with your doctor because everyone’s case is different. I’m soon having a sleep study done to see if I have it.

After 8 hours, get out of bed and find something to do. The thing is, the body sleeps in 7-9 hour cycles. Once you get around to the 9-10th hour, you body will start the sleep cycle over again. That’s why, when someone sleeps for 12 hours, they are more tired throughout the day than their 8 hour counterpart.
On top of that, it’s terrible for your metabolism and overall energy level. So, you’ll sleep more because your body isn’t used to any sort of exercise.

Everybody is tired in the morning, you just have to get up. I don’t want to either, but I have a job so I have to.

Question by bridget Jones: About SLEEP APNEA……Do you think many people know about this disease/illness?
Do you think snoring and sleeping through the day is the most common syptom to be able to tell if you know someone who may have it?

Do you try to encourage others who you may think might have it, to see a doctor to do a test?

Best answer:

Answer by Lorraine H
I think people have some awareness of it, and I have encouraged people to look into it. Being chronically tired and loud, heavy breathing/snoring are symptoms.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by shaelin45: Live-in b/f doesn’t want sex. How do I know if it’s time to move on?
When I met my b/f a year ago, he wasn’t feeling well, & our sex life wasn’t very good. We moved in together, hoping things would change. It’s not been a very happy year due to his many challenges.

I’m very passionate & love sex and intimacy (in my 40’s). This has nothing to do with ’spicing’ it up.

We haven’t had sex or any real affection for 11 months. It breaks my heart. We love each other, but we now have a ’sweet room-mate’ type relationship. There is little intimacy from him (he doesn’t like to talk much). I’ve been more than compassionate and patient.

It turns out he has sleep apnea, which has contributed to his feeling so exhausted. He just started treatment.

Since we never had that ‘great love affair’, I don’t know if it’s his illness, or if I am hanging on to false hopes he is the man for me.

I’m depressed. I wanted so much more in a relationship. He has shown little interest in me, but is so kind in other ways, it’s confusing because he always wants to be near me.

You gave it a good shot. I’d say it’s time to call this quits. It might be his illness, it might not be.

However, the fact is, your needs are not being met. And he seems to have stated that he does not plan on ever meeting those needs. You owe it to yourself to find someone who can.
