Question by izzie: Passable effects of gastric bypass surgery?
I need to drop 75 Lbs, I weigh 225 Lbs. I have hart desease and sleep apnea and work the graveyard shift 55 Miles away.I am 49 Years old.
I wear the breathing device when I sleep however it tends to keep me up rather than help me sleep. I take several meds and OTC sleeping pills to sleep sometimes, my Doctor will not approve surgery for my airway, says it is very painful and will not work for long anyway.
Gastic surgery he will approve.
Please advice.

NO don’t do it , do the Lap band…… because if there are difficulties they can revers it. I’m over weight too way more then u , and they tell me the same , but u need to loose it now or you will not make it I’m sorry I know , I’m sorry , I want you to be OK , So look up LAP BAND FIRST. and when people do the gastric bypass out of A 100 people 10% die so that is a lot so put 100 people in a room and 10 will not make it , u put 1000 in a room and 100 will not make it , but with lap band no where near the risk , but same benefits , and it can be taken out easy and adjusted to u and is better. Please talk to your Doctor. But Remember Doctors just want the most expensive so get 2 opinions.
Good Luck
I will pray for you ….
God Bless You…

Question by Gray: Psychological Effects of a Sleep Apnea?
I was wondering what some of the psychological effects of a sleep apnea is? I haven’t had the test done to see if I in fact have a sleep apnea, but are these symptoms a possibility of a Sleep Apnea?
-Tired ALL day every day
-Headaches
-Very tired in the morning, as if I didn’t sleep at all
-Anxiety/depression
-Feeling sick all the time
-Worrying about my health all the time
-Wake up extremely thirsty
-Chest or abdominal pains
-Paranoia to a certain extent
-Urinating a lot at night/morning
Anything else to suggest this? Also, what does a Sleep Apnea test consist of?
Thank you

Several of these CAN be caused by sleep apnea or lack of sleep.
Several of the items you mentioned can also be an indication of diabetes. Extreme thrist, urinating alot, felling tired sick all the time, headaches etc.
Talk to you primary care doctor and ask him for a glucous bell test as this may help your with some of your issues…possibly all. Maybe the lack of sleep is “casued” as well by diabetes. Good luck

Question by bboy244: What are the possible side effects of a cpap machine? Does anyone know any natural cures for sleep Apnea/?
Best answer:
Answer by rider3171
The only issues I know of with CPAP machines are the noise, some condensation of the air line going to the mask, and the comfort of the mask itself. The only “natural cure” I am aware of is to lose weight, and that may or may not work.
Good luck.

I am about to undergo surgery for sleep apnea. Surgeon says the recovery period will be the “worst I have ever felt”. Someone who had the surgery said it just like a “bad sore throat” and not too terrible. I would like to hear from others who have had the surgery, and whether they had any negative aftereffects. I would appreciate only serious replies. Thanks.

I intend to to talk about the main kinds of sleep apnea as in a overview, then about diseases that have some kind of relation to them.
