I would seriously suggest consulting your physician, I would not seek advice for something this serious online

Question by cm9779: I cannot sleep. I am pretty sure I have sleep apnea, but I have no insurance and cannot afford testing.?
Apparantly the testing is ridiculusly expensive, even with insurance. My Dr. has perscribed me Restoril which is a heavy sleep aid. It does put me to sleep, but I wake up within a few hours after it wares off. I generally get about 3-4 hrs. of sleep a night. I am so tired I feel like crying all the time and I constantly feel sick. Does anyone have any ideas until I can afford the Apnea testing. (please don’t suggest nasal strips, they do not work). Help Me.

Question by mystery girl 16: I cannot sleep!? Sleeping disorder? Or Insanity?
alright so I’m 17 and its the summer so i stay up pretty lat and sleep in til like 2 pm. I have been doing this for the past 2 weeks, go to sleep at 4am wake at 2pm and i got really sick of it and then started staying up til 9am and sleeping til 2 or 3am. I figured if i stayed up all night then id be tried by 10pm the next night. So i did that for 3 nights in a row but kept falling asleep at 9am or so. Now for two nights I lay there and hear noises and think there are killers in the house and still! i just lay there sweating and freaking out until the sun comes up. am i going crazy from lack of sleep?? what do i do now? im way to scared to go to sleep! helpp!?

yeah i think your whole bio clock is very screwed up and so your body is suffering from it.

you should find some kind of help like from parents to keep you awake until 9 PM or something of that sort and then wake you up around 7 AM or something. it’s going to be hard moving around your bio clock again but you can’t really do it yourself.
you need to really push to stay awake and then start sleeping around night time!!!
btw my bio clock is messed up too -0- i sleep at 3 AM and wake up at like 12 PM. tsk

Question by pfpattyfrench: If you go to bed early, is there any reason why someone with sleep apnea cannot get up at 6am to go to work.?
I scheduled my employee at 7am and he says that he cannot possibly get up and do his job, even though he has 2 days off prior. I find this to be just an excuse not to work this shift. Any advice?

If he has sleep apnea he needs to be on a CPAP machine so that he can get proper rest. If he is not using a machine, then yeah, he probably has a hard time getting up, but no excuse. He will die if he doesn’t get the problem taken care of. I have sleep apnea, but I use CPAP and there are no sleep disturbances any longer. Someone cannot use a medical condition that has a readily available treatment as an excuse. That would be like a waiter saying he couldn’t wait tables because he has a splinter in his foot. The condition has a treatment and not only can the treatment help him get some sleep, it will also prolong his life. Besides that, even BEFORE I got CPAP I got to work on time.

We have tried for two years now, and still nothing. My period has been non-existent for about a year now. We are not using any birth control (obviously). My doctor says it’s just because of my sleep apnea. I already have a son from a previous relationship. Any suggestions?
I have a CPAP machine and have had it for about a month now.
