Question by Alabaster: My brother is almost 400 lbs and is in his early 20’s. He also has schizophrenia and depression.?
He takes at least 10 pills a day and has to wear a sleep apnea mask (forgot what it’s called). My question is, how to get him to lose weight? He demands fast food and won’t exercise. Can throw fits if you don’t give him the food he wants and it is mostly not healthy what he wants. They are also on a very low budget. Any suggestions?
Medicare doesn’t cover homeopathic doctors though.

This is just my opinion but I think many people like your brother can easily benefit from a better way, without prescription drugs. 10 pills a day is way too much. I think one medication is too much. LOL I can understand why he weighs so much. For many of these drugs, one of the side affects is weight gain. Actually, all this weight is just water retention.
But he has to be willing to try another way. Suggect homeopathy and herbalism. I used to take pwsychiatric meds for depression and bi-polar disorder and I am 10 times better today. I have not taken nay medication at all since 2007.

Question by : How can I help my obese brother? I swear he is going to die soon?
My brother has gained a lot of weight in the past 7 years or so. He is about 180cm tall and weighs 160kg. He’s 28 years old and has a 5 year old daughter from a previous relationship who I absolutely adore, and I’m so worried he is not going to be around to watch her grow up and be a father. He has sleep apnea, which is when he stops breathing in his sleep, and his snoring is unbearable. He falls asleep whilst driving because of this. He also is out of puff even from walking. The sad thing is, he doesn’t stop eating. I think it is emotional eating after our parents break-up. He acts like he does not care but this is really affecting his life, and when I try to tell him he needs to lose weight, especially for his daughter, he just brushes it off and continues eating and not exercising. What more can I do? The mother of his child left him, by the way..

Maybe you could try to get your family together for an intervention—to confront the problem and set up a sort of diet-exercise plan, and maybe find someone to talk to [if his overeating has to do with emotional problems, etc.]

Yes it very well could be sleep apnea. The only way to know is for him to get a sleep study done at a sleep center or local hospital that offers help in that area
