I have many of the symtoms, not all of them though. A couple of years ago i didn’t get my period for a whole year, everyone told me it was stress because my father had just past away. I lost a little weight started getting my periods again and now that I have gained the weight back it has been 7 months without a period. I also have, hypothyroidism, sleep apnea, depression, anxiety, fatigue, acne… that is all I can think of right now.

My doctor has told me many times that even if I have PCOS it is no big deal, And doesn’t want to send me to a specialist to get diagnosed. His thinking is even if I have PCOS the only way to make it better is to lose weight, so do that. I am working on that but it very slow in coming.

Is it important to actually be diagnosed with PCOS or should I just forget about it and try to lose weight. I want to have children but not for a couple years…

I dont want to give much advice cause i dont know anything about medical stuff, but i highly recommend to continue exercising, a lot of health issues can, and are due to being overweight. Do not stop, have a steady and semi intense workout plan and stick with it. It should be part of your life

I know I have sleep apnea. I snore so loud and I have excessive fatigue to the point that I have to sleep more than 12 hours a day. It also runs in my family. I just got a CPAP machine from someone. How dangerous would it be for me to use it? Educated responses only.
Monica- I asked for educated responses only. I am also in the health profession and that doesn’t mean I know everything about everything. CPAP machines are not by prescription only, otherwise you could not buy them anywhere. And If you aren’t even aware that they are for sleep apnea, I am not quite sure how you managed to become a nurse.
Davisk- pneumothorax is not a “hole in the lungs”. I have studied cardiorespiratory care. I am also well aware that too much O2 can be dangerous. Also, there are no H2O levels on this machine. Are you meaning O2 levels? And finally, it is not gross. Obviously I am not stupid enough to use another person’s mask! lol.

very you shouldnt even take other peoples prescribed medications let alone a cpap machine which i dont know if its used for sleep apnea,but anyway the cpap has different settings for doing its job which is done by trained medical staff(usually a respitory therapist)go see a dr and dont use the cpap,its not safe and may be illegal.seek medical attention before you try to use the cpap or anything else.take care

I am 29, 3 months married, wife is pregnant & a millionaire. As you can see i also have sleep apnea lol. I grew up poor. We had a very small home & i was #4 of 5 brothers. We always ate but sometimes not much. Every month or so we would have to pick a bill to not pay. When i was 13 my sister was born & things started to work for us. We sold Marijuana, the 5 of us, & made enough cash to eat well, pay bills, & have some extra spending money. Being poor taught me how far a dollar could be stretched. This skill still helps me today. I feel that being poor made me a better person. However, i wish it on no one. My dad died & my mom & sister live in a nice 3 bedroom, a decent neighborhood. I give about $ 300,000 away to charity every year. Growing up i hated the rich & now i realized that with money comes responsibility for your fellow man. I didn’t hate those people, i wanted to be them. I want my children to be spoiled, rich kids because i never was. I was reduced to crime just to make it another month. For me a new pair of shoes was a yearly event & if they broke i had to earn enough to pay for them, i want my kids to be able to ask me for a 60 inch TV & i just hand it to them. Poverty created a lot of problems. Some more well off kids would pick fights with me just because they knew i didn’t have much. That wouldn’t happen to my kids, they wouldn’t be drug dealers either. I want to spoil them & my wife to death. So on one hand i’m excellent at finance & on the other i’m going to have unappreciative monsters for kids. So any body else have this type of situation?

Also-I will make sure my kids know where their dad came from & how lucky they are. I just hope they look to God & say “Thanks for letting this crazy dream come true” like i do every night & day.

yes you are right..now you know the value of everything..if people get something when they dont need it they usually dont use it

I’ve gone to a doctor before about tiredness and waking up tired – the last time I got a blood test done and everything was fine and the doctor didn’t do anything else. Since then I’ve moved house and have another doctor. I went to him and again he wants to start with a blood test. I’m pretty sure this will still be normal. He says that most patients leave it at that and don’t want further tests. I guess if I don’t have high blood pressure (which he tested) and my blood values are normal the chances are high that it’s stress causing the tiredness. Should a bother making another appointment with my GP and asking to go to a sleep center? (It seems like patients are discouraged to do this) Can I diagnose sleep apnea myself – for example by recording my own snoring and seeing if I stop breathing?

There is a test you can rent over night usually from a respiratory company.
Its a little portable unit that you put on a bedside table and you connect a few sensors to your face and head that records your sleep patterns. Your GP (Guinea Pig?) can read it .
It cost me about $ 50 for the usage.
If you know what your looking for you can read it yourself.

Life and Death.

Even if the fit person dies from a freak heart attack at 25 and the unfit person dies at 80, (s)he leads a BETTER life than the unfit person, because the *quality* of life is better.

A good exercise program also allows you to sleep *less* and eat less (relatively speaking) than the unfit person.

My husband has severe sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and needs to have lap band surgery. He can’t drive and we have two minor children who are still in school. Contact your local welfare (Job and Family Services, Human Services) and talk to the Supervisor that is responsible for the Home Care Waiver program and she should be able to direct you in the right direction.

I have sleep apnea (diagnosed in a sleep study). When I go to bed, I can fall asleep very quickly, but then I wake up. And after I wake up, then I can’t fall asleep again for a long time.

Does anyone else have this same problem? I can fall asleep very easily initially. But after I wake up again, then I have so much trouble sleeping.
