I am suspect of sleep neurologists who keep pushing an apnea diagnosis as the problem (vs. narcolepsy, for example) even if a sleep study shows differently. It seems each dr. is located next door to CPAP machine rentals. I’m wondering if they are part owners or stock holders drumming up business. Just asking…
I’ve been to 3 drs. All said the same thing after stating the sleep tests only showed mild apnea. Sleep apnea is considered a sleep disorder and neurologists are usually the treating physician.

My boyfriend has sleep apnea and we are looking for a sleep apnea forced air machine to buy. He does not have insurance and the doctor wants him to stay overnight at a sleep center to confirm that he actually has sleep apnea. The cost of the sleep clinic is $2300.00 for (1) night!! I know he has sleep apnea and the only treatment for it is a forced air machine. In the meantime he is not getting any quality sleep and is affecting his daily life!! Please Help Us!!

My 3 year old has sleep apnea. I just realized this (along with snoring) and have him an appointment for an ear, nose and throat doctor. I’m wondering if there is anything I should know, or anything that will help the situation until our appointment. I didn’t realize that children get this…any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!
