Remember one thing, no one gets certified to practice medicine on the web. I am sleep apnea patient, and there are many different symptoms, but I specifically never felt dizzy or disoriented. I was tired all of the time, and did experience rapid heart-rate especially late at night while having the episodes. My best answer for you, and one that I could sleep with is the following. If you experience dizziness and a feeling of being disoriented, go and see your doctor. Do NOT take sleep apnea lightly! I did the sleep study over 5 years ago and it has changed my life. Go and get help!

I would check with a doctor. You could be having rhythm problems with your heart.

One of the main symptoms one with apnea will notice is that they are always too tired to do anything. They will have no energy, and will often drop off in a nap if they get still long enough.

There are 2 types of sleep apnea-the most common (90%+)is called "obstructive apnea" and involves air passages becoming restricted during sleep. There is a lot of snoring. Usually the spouse of a person with obstructive apnea will know it. It is generally well treated with a "c-pap" machine. Positive air pressure is kept on the breathing passages to help keep them open. The success rate of treatment is generally very high.

Then there is "central apnea" where the brain forgets to send out the signal to breathe. This is not common. Treatment usually is done with a "v-pap" machine (there are other types), and often medication (sleeping pill) is required. The "v-pap" varies in pressure from intake to outgo, and can even ventilate the patient when they stop breathing. Success is not nearly as good as with Obstructive apnea.
Some people have varying degrees of both apneas called "complex apnea".

Sleep studies are expensive, about $4 grand. Some c-paps are just a few hundred dollars. But variable pressure auto ventilators costs about $6 grand. If you have a decent insurance, then you may only spent a few hundred out of pocket.

Sleep apnea is dangerous.

Insominia is when you find it a struggle to sleep. Sleep Apnea is when you stop breathing during your sleep. You do need to see a doctor, but I doubt it is sleep apnea.

I used to have sleep apnea so bad that I had to use a CPAP machine. The sleep study and the CPAP machine were very expensive so, I know where you are coming from about trying to find out more about it without spending a lot of money on medical tests. I read the guide, found here- http://e176agrj-4qu3r4fyjrnq4av15.hop.clickbank.net/ and now I don't have to use a CPAP machine anymore. I sold that sucker!! LOL. The guide tells you all about the signs, symptoms, causes, etc about sleep apnea and it tells you how you can cure sleep apnea without using a CPAP machine...and in your case it will help you figure out if what your hubby has is sleep apnea and will teach you information on what you can do to avoid sleep apnea, It actually works bc it worked for me and my brother-in-law as well. The leading cause of sleep apnea is obesity and the guide covers that as well and will greatly help your hubby out. Let me know if it helps you out like it did me!!

Sleeping apnea is very serious and should be taken into consideration right away. If you can afford to and really care I suggest you get him to a doctor and spend the extra bucks getting the test done.

Here's a blog that goes more into detail about this disorder - http://stop-sleep-apnea.blogspot.com/

If he does have apnea it means he's not getting enough air flow into his lungs.

Hope it helps. Also if you need help finding some other information. Please feel free to contact me.

Officially, you should have a sleep lab perform a comprehensive sleep study. You shouldn't do what I did or listen to me (i didn't go to med school), though the choice is yours. I was unable to afford a sleep study too. Instead of listening for snoring, you should stay awake and monitor your husband's airway. Does his snoring become interrupted by gasps for hair? Do you observe his airway closing up momentarily during his sleep? If so, he most likely has Obstructive Sleep Apnea. My girlfriend observed these signs. I told my dentist and she was able to make a mouthpiece to wear to bed.

The mouthpiece significantly improved my symptoms and I sleep much better. Mouthpieces help some people, although CPAP machines are best for most cases. You cannot get a CPAP machine without a sleep study as it requires a prescription, only the dental mouthpiece can be obtained without a prescription. Of course, you should have a sleep study performed by a sleep lab. What I did is not consistent with proper diagnosis and treatment.

LOL! When we first moved in together, my sweetie used to wake me up in the middle of the night. "What's the matter?" I'd ask. "You weren't breathing!" she'd say. Sometimes I'd wake up and she'd be shaking me saying "Breathe! Breathe!"

Snoring is not a problem (except it's loud and it keeps you awake). But if you hear him stop breathing all together, that's sleep apnea. I'm not sure how doctors test for it, but that's what it is, and if you're in the same bed you have the opportunity to observe it.

Just get him to go to the doctor. It is important to check whether he has sleep apnea because it can be a strain on the heart and also may cause him to be sleepy when driving. The doc should be able to confirm this for you.

Mr E. is correct. Not only for chiropractic but also cranioSacral, and other 'energetic' modalities that work on the nervous system.

Snoring is most of the time because of energetic blockage in the middle part of the body (where the main organs are located). Of course the real cause (the original cause) can be somewhere else as there are many connections in the body.

Also take care not to eat too late (because when the stomach is busy, the middle is a little 'blocked' since all energy naturally goes to the body), try eating the last time before 3 pm for a while, and see if that has any effect on you.

About the skepps, they often have something to say, but more often they are just a joke.
A joke is a signal from the universe that you need to laugh more in life.
To laugh more will give you a better natural immune system.
That's why the skepps are out there.

Good luck.
