Sleep apnea has more to do with breathing than dental. A C pap machine runs around 2 to 3 G.
Dental appliances such as gaurds for grinding and such are good for your teeth but, they don’t address the sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a suspension of breathing during your sleep that cause your heart to have to work harder attempting to get oxygen. This is the real worry about it.
If you go on a C pap, you will most likely stop grinding as well.

I have a sleep apnea appliance but it is NOT a dental appliance… it is a MACHINE…. you can’t keep the airway in your THROAT open with a dental appliance….Sleep Apnea is caused when you stop BREATHING during sleep… by forcing AIR into your throat through a C-PAP MACHINE or a BI-PAP MACHINE, you force the airway that closes during your apnea moments to stay OPEN. I have had my machine for a little over a YEAR now… it comes with a NOSE or FACE mask (I use the mask that goes over the MOUTH and nose because I tend to be a mouth breather while sleeping)….and tube that connects from the mask to a little box… My machine is RENTED (along with 2 other machines that I must have do to another problem I have… to rent all 3 machines AND 5 oxygen TANKS that I also must have… it costs $244 a MONTH… My insurance pays 1/2 so it costs me $122 PER MONTH for the rest of my life… The C-pap machine ALONE would be a LOT LESS then that… and should be perscribed after you have either had a SLEEP STUDY that has been recommended by your doctor OR if you acquire a heart or lung disease such as pulmonary hypertension or congestive heart failure…. WHEN your doctor prescribes the c-pap machine, SOME insurances will pay the FULL shot of the rental and some will pay 1/2…..but I’ve NEVER heard of dealing with sleep apnea by DENTAL MEANS…and do NOT see how it is POSSIBLE!!!! (since sleep apnea is a breathing problem with the THROAT).
