What Is The Name Of A Disorder That Causes Nightmares?
Posted by: Alan in Sleep Disorder, tags: Causes, Disorder, Name, Nightmares, That, What
My friend told me about a sleep disorder that causes nightmares. He used 4 letters to name it, then told me what it stood for, but I can’t remember what it is. I can’t ask him again, and I want to research it. I’ve tried to find it and haven’t been able to find something with an abbreviation. I remember that there was at least 1 “P” in it and possibly 2 (Like P_P_). But I’m not certain…

PTSD and parasomnia is the word for the sleep disorder for someone who has nightmares and night terrors, neither are harmful for the person and its best not to wake them while they are in the middle of an episode. Just let them sleep through it.

I don’t know the answer to that question, but if your having nightmares all the time, almost every night there is meds for that. When my sisters husband passed away, she was having them all the time, so he prescibed something for her and they went away and she was able to get off of them, and she never had them again. So if u r having them often, maybe u should see your Dr. GOOD LUCK.

PTSD is not a sleeping disorder, but it does cause nightmares.
Night Terrors is a disorder it doesn’t have an abbreviation, but it’s the closest thing i can think of.

PSTD and paranoid anxiety come to mind, Paranoid anxiety & general anxiety are 2 different diagnoses mental health professionals use. Paranoid anxiety is a particular anxiety, listed as such, & is not considered ‘general anxiety.’
