Don't take up pot, that is not smart. I think you should go to a Sleep Disorder clinic. You spend the night under observation, they will also hook you up to devices to graph what is happening in your sleep. I have a friend who went to school for years to study sleep and it is very specialized, so I am not sure if you will get your answer here. I do feel bad for you and your partner, sleep is so precious!

sounds like a really bad case of restless leg syndrome but other things should be ruled out (seizure, night terrors, anxiety) ...thus I recommend a visit to doc...to make a more precise and helpful diagnosis...if its restless leg then there is medication which is pretty effective from what I remember...forgot the name...but go to doc..he/she has to prescribe it anyways; its not over-the-counter...good luck ;o)

Don't worry, I had the same problem too. Infact this is quite a common problem for teenager. Some will grow out of it but some might not.
I found this article very helpful and it takes a little patience to get it right.

I wonder if it could be categorized as restless legs syndrome. see-http://sleepdisorders.about.com/
If you try to make your sleep deeper, it may help. If you sleep in the day, stop doing that. Go to bed a bit later in the night. Cut down caffeine or other stimulants, specially after evening.
Of course, a specialist will give you more & better advice, try these in the meantime.
Good luck!
