Hello doung Boy,
Sleep apnea is a common disorder in our society. It often remains unrecognized and untreated by the specialists, despite the evolution of medicine over the last years.
Sleep apnea is manifested by apnea events or apnea episodes when you’re asleep.
But what is an apnea event? Well…sleep apnea is defined as cessation of nasal or oral airflow for at least 10 seconds. This one episode is called an apnea event. However, if your airflow in and out of your lungs is reduced for at least 10 seconds, then you will have an hypopnea event.
So, if your breathing stops in you sleep for…let’s say…30 seconds, then you have an apnea event or apnea episode.
A person with sleep apnea stop breathing in his sleep many times, even 200 times per sleep! It’s understandable why this person is so tired during the day and has so many health problems.
I hope it helps.

Obstructive sleep apnea is a condition that causes the soft tissue in the rear of the throat to narrow and repeatedly close during sleep. The brain responds to each of these “apnea events” by waking the person in order to resume breathing. Since apnea events can happen hundreds of times per night, sleep becomes broken and ineffective.
