Your general practice physician can probably order a sleep study, or polysomnograph. But it depends on what type of sleep disorder you suspect you have. Snoring, waking tired, drifting off to sleep during the day, are all symptoms of sleep apnea, the most common type of sleep disorder. Most cities over 50,000 people will have a hospital with a sleep lab in it.

NO! You do not go to an Internist, certainly not a pharmacist. An Internist in a general practice does not conduct sleep clinics. A pharmacist despenses medication. As far as hospitals, doubtful. In 30 years of practice, I’ve not seen nor heard of one in that setting.
Look under sleep centers or sleep disorders. These should be listed under PSYCHOLOGISTS in the yellow pages. There are psychologists who specialize in sleep disorders, exclusively. In other words, this is all they do. I would ask to visit their facility. Just check it out, and see how comfortable you are. They should be more than happy to accommodate you. Hopefully, you have good insurance. These studies can be long and complicated.
    Good Luck.
Also, be careful of what you ask in this catagory. No harm in a question like this, but when you take MEDICAL advise from a layman, you could find yourself in a lot of trouble.
    Good Luck.

ask your general doc, to refer someone with more experience, gen. doc.s don’t know everything, you may need to see a neurologist and have a sleep study done to find out exactly what’s going on.
