i can totally sympathise with you. I would be annoyed as you will always put your sons needs at the top of your list. The bottom line is, the hospital have a list too and for whatever reason, it’s different to yours. If i were you i’d just try and accept it. There isn’t anything you can do about it and life’s too short to be angry about things you can’t change. Your son’s time will come, hopefully soon.
For the record – i don’t think you’re being selfish, your man probably doesn;t want to see you getting worked up about it.

I would be annoyed too just BECAUSE! You don’t want your child to suffer, and it seems like your friend’s child is receiving preferential treatment. PLEASE, speak up and advocate on behalf of your son. Be loud, complain, call constantly as to the status of the waiting list, drop names if you have to, complain that ’so & so is getting the procedure before my son’. Enlist in your doctor’s help. Be proactive in your son’s care.

that would seriously piss me off
i say call the hospital and find out why the situation happened and how long he has to wait
tell them that if it’s more than 2 weeks you are going to melborne

what country are you in, why dont you just go to another hospital, there is no way you are in the us. I would not have waited more than a few weeks if that was for my daughter.

First and foremost you are not being selfish in this. Your baby has this issue which is very life threatening- which is no fault of his own. I feel for you that your country/state does not have the ability to take care of this in the manner it should be. Here in the US, that baby would more then likely be rushed into emergancy surgry to have this done- if not would have it done with in a week. I would definetly, as a mother of 2, pay to fly or travel else where to have it done immediatly. Your baby could die from this. I would pay any amount to ensure the safety of my own child. I hope you get the help you need. God Bless

Oh you poor thing. I live on the Gold Coast and our hospital here sucks! But really, at least we get free health care unlike a lot of countries that fork out ridiculous amounts of money for private health care. I really feel for you though and I would be annoyed at the hospital too that your friend, due to her own ignorance, gets an operation before a child that is struggling to breathe! My daughter has had to be in hospital four times in the last 4 years and I see what stress and understaffing are doing to our health workers and doctors. I’m not surprised the nurses are on strike.
Your not selfish but understandably concerned and annoyed that your child can’t get medical care.
I would see about the posibility of having it done in melbourne because obviously there are a lot more, bigger hospitals there than in tassy. It might end up costing you a lot of money though which could be better spent just doing it privately in tassy. Find out how much it would cost to do it privately, maybe its worth the money for your son’s wellbeing.
