Since you have to diet, change your eating habits and lose weight to have the surgery why even bother with the surgery? Just get control of your eating and exercising. Seems silly to have surgery for something you could deal with WITHOUT surgery. Otherwise – get the surgery, keep your old habits and you will be just as fat in 2 years.

I didn’t have it but a friend had the adjustable lap band put in. She lost 15 lbs in the first month and then ended up in the hospital with an ulcer and stomach bleeding that was caused from having the procedure. The doctor removed it.
Since then, she has started exercising, eating healthier and lost 40 lbs.
If you are only getting it because you are too lazy or because you don’t want to give up eating junk, then don’t do it.
It’s a complete lifestyle change and not something you do just because it’s available.

Consult with your doctor – sleep apnea can be helped with weight loss, but that’s not always the case. There are a few causes of sleep apnea. If you want to lose weight, just watch your diet and exercise more. Start off slow – don’t do too much at the beginning – build up to it.

There are two basic types of weight loss surgery — restrictive surgeries and malabsorptive surgeries.
It’s up to you which one is good for you…
Vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG)
Laparoscopic gastric banding (Lap-Band)
Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RGB)
Biliopancreatic diversion (BPD)
