To hear a clock when I sleep, I had to buy a very loud clock radio and turn the volume to it’s loudest setting. It is so loud as to be heard very cleary outside my house. I also have to place a book on top of the clock so that I don’t just turn it off in my sleep. I’ve now gotten my son in trouble at school due to the number of times he has been tardy from my sleeping through the clock.

Have you tried using the buzzing sound instead of the radio to wake you? This guy I was dating had gotten used to hearing the music and talking in his sleep and it just got incorporated into his dreams. He found that switching back and forth periodically between the buzzing and the radio works best for him. Sometimes I wish I had that problem. I am such a light sleeper that any movement or sound, however faint, wakes me from my sleep and then I cannot get back to sleep. Everyone’s bodies are different. Some people can get by on 5 hours of deep sleep while others need 6 or more. I am one of those people that need about 7 hours per night in order to feel rested.

How many minutes are you sleeping a night? If you get more than six hours consistently, your deep sleep time would be over and you will be able to hear better. Secondly, are you getting to sleep when you go to bed? If you toss and turn for an hour or two, then maybe you need a sleep aid.

If it is a disorder then I have had it my entire life. I think you are taking steps to prevent past issues with it-as I did-so good luck.
From childhood I naturally went to sleep early-no tossing or turning-and woke up early. My sleep time between 6 to 8 hours. I have a wind up clock with two metal bells. I place it far from the bed so I must get up to shut it off.

    No, that’s bliss
