Obstructive Sleep Apnea?
Posted by: Alan in Obstructive Sleep Apnea, tags: Apnea., Obstructive, Sleep
When I was a kid I think I was 5 I had my tonsils removed and the doctor said I would stop snoring. Well, I was looking on the internet about Sleep Apnea and heard that it can kill you. So pretty much I have all the symptoms. To diagnose OSA costs over $5,000 and apparently no insurance covers it. I have no idea what I can do. I think it is ridiculous and unbelievable how it costs so much. HELP!!!

Obstructive sleep apnea is diagnosed with a sleep study. Most insurances do cover this fully or partially. I am not sure where you heard that they didn’t. If you do have sleep apnea, then this is treated with a special breathing machine called CPAP at night to reduce the apneic episodes. Talk to your doctor about this.

Rarely a person dies in sleep because of his sleep apnea disorder. But the most common causes of death are from the side effects of sleep apnea, like a stroke or a heart failure.
